Dr. Sterling is an expert at treating acne and acne scarring. The goal is to have patients looking and feeling their best. Modalities to treat active acne outbreaks in our office include topical creams, washes, oral medication, cortisone injections, laser treatments and peels. The goal is to create a skin care regimen that leads to healthy, acne-free skin and increased self-confidence.

Acne Scar Treatment

Eventually, either through treatment or time, we will all outgrow the development of new pimples, but in some patients permanent scarring is left behind. Treatment of any type of scar, and especially acne scars, requires a well-trained physician who can identify the type of scarring that has taken place and the most appropriate treatment. Dr. Sterling is fellowship trained in procedural dermatology and is the most specialized type of expert for treating acne scars.

Many types of acne scars may exist, ranging from deep pits of “ice-pick” scars, the angulated “box car” scars, to the undulating “rolling” scars. Each of these types of scars requires a different treatment combination to obtain optimal results. Scars of all types–traumatic, accidental, acne, old and new–can benefit from treatment.
